KnitheWorld

Line of Codes as Loop of Yarns

About

Developed by the Tangible Media Group at MIT, KnitheWorld is an interactive interface seeking to connect the worlds of computer science and knitting.

With the drag-and-drop modules of the Scratch programming language, users can learn to code or enhance their programming skills by using functions, conditionals, loops and more to fashion virtual knit patterns and see them come together in real-time.

KnitheWorld also allows users to transform their virtual patterns into scarves, blankets and more. Members can connect with their local knitting communities to not only share coding insights, but also find nearby machines that will print their designs upon the simple drag-and-drop of a pre-made file.
